Hurricane Matthew Relief in Haiti

Hurricane Matthew, which is the most powerful hurricane to affect the Caribbean in nearly a decade, struck Haiti's southern region in the early morning hours of October 4, causing deadly flooding. Waters from the Category 4 storm collapsed bridges, destroyed homes, and ruined crops in a country still attempting to recover after a massive earthquake in 2010. Many people were living in makeshift shelters before Matthew hit.
Generations of Hope, Haiti is doing well after the storm. Thank you so much for your prayers for Haiti and the children at the orphanage. The children are safe and facility itself sustained only minor damage. The most significant impact has been the damage sustained to our gardens which now impacts the children's food supply. We have also sustained damage to our electrical system which will need repair. GoHaiti is located near a river and the normally shallow river rose dramatically during the storm and threatened the orphanage. Many of our neighbors did not fare as well… the destruction is immense all around us. Our staff have gone into the neighborhood and began reaching out to people who have lost everything. We want to make GoHaiti a distribution center as part of the relief effort.
To accomplish this, GoHaiti is putting together a relief effort to assist our neighbors, especially the kids and their parents who attend our ministry at GoHaiti on a regular basis. The river has destroyed several homes and has left many families homeless. The flood has also caused severe damage and killed over a thousand people in western Haiti.
We highly appreciate the fact that you have contacted your church, your friends and your inner circle to come together in helping Haiti. We are extremely grateful for their willingness to donate toward this effort to assist our brothers and sisters in need.
